You will be able to rest lumber, pipe, kayaks, loading ramps and whatever else you want on your tailgate without cracking the top or denting the tailgate. The included tie down loops add 2 critical tie down points for securing loading ramps and long cargo. No more lumber sliding around the bed or loading ramps slipping off, causing serious injury and damage! The tailgate cap attaches at 9 factory points to evenly distribute the heaviest loads across the tailgate.
We offer 2 material choices: P&O Steel and 5052 Aluminum plate.
Steel: Significantly harder with more impact resistance than aluminum. Our steel cap is also about 10lbs heavier, which will make it more difficult to lift your tailgate and it will will drop faster. Choose steel if you need the ultimate protection and can handle a heavier tailgate.
Aluminum: Still a massive upgrade from the flimsy factory plastic, but medium duty in comparison to steel. Our aluminum cap is very lightweight and will never rust, even if you destroy the powdercoated finish. Choose aluminum if added tailgate weight is a large concern and you’re not doing serious hauling.
